Charlie Baker Trailing Geoff Diehl In Hypothetical Republican Primary, Poll Shows

October 20, 2021

Many Republicans in Massachusetts don’t like Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, according to a Public Policy Polling survey shared with Politico on Wednesday morning.

It showed that 54 percent of likely 2022 Massachusetts Republican primary voters have an unfavorable opinion of the state’s incumbent governor Charlie Baker; only 30 percent had a favorable opinion of him. Meanwhile, it showed that former state representative Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman) leads 50 percent to 29 percent in a hypothetical Republican primary between the two; 21 percent were undecided in the race, according to the survey.

Public Policy Polling is a Democrat polling firm based out of North Carolina; the group did not poll a hypothetical Democratic primary.
