Chris Sununu Says Chris Doughty Will Win Massachusetts Governor’s Race

August 15, 2022

New Hampshire Govenror Chris Sununu revealed who he thinks will be the next governor of Massachusetts:  Wrentham businessman Chris Doughty.

The Republican governor endorsed Doughty in the Massachusetts race earlier this month. But he also predicted victory for Doughty.

“Chris Doughty is the Republican who will win in November, and as Governor, he’ll deliver results for Bay Staters to make Massachusetts affordable,” Sununu wrote in a Facebook post. “Glad to support Chris Doughty last night and help elect governors across New England who will cut taxes to grow our regional economy!”

Doughty faces former state representative Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman) in the Republican primary. The winner will face Democratic attorney general Maura Healey in the general election.

In New Hampshire, Sununu walks a line between liberal Republicans and conservatives.

Sununu supports legal abortion. But he also signed a bill restricting abortion after 24 weeks, with exceptions for life and health of the mother. He also signed a subsequent bill adding as an exception a fatal diagnosis for the fetus.

As for former president Donald Trump, Sununu has been critical of Trump but not as critical as Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker or Vermont Governor Phil Scott, who are also Republicans.

New to NewBostonPost?  Conservative media is hard to find in Massachusetts.  But you’ve found it.  Now dip your toe in the water for two bucks — $2 for two months.  And join the real revolution.
