Claire Cronin Resigns

January 19, 2022

Claire Cronin no longer represents the 11th Plymouth District.

The Easton Democrat resigned from her job as a Massachusetts state representative this week. She did so because her new job starts this week:  as the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland.

Cronin, who had served as the state’s House Majority Leader since last year, was an early backer of President Joe Biden in Massachusetts.

During the 2019-2020 legislative session, Cronin notably was the primary sponsor of the ROE Act. It was an abortion expansion bill that, among other things, made it so that 16- and 17 year olds can get an abortion without parental consent and eliminated existing protections for babies born alive during an attempted abortion.
