Connecticut Governor Wants To Raise Gun Purchasing Age

February 2, 2023

How old should people have to be to buy a gun?

Connecticut Government Ned Lamont wants his state to raise the age to purchase a firearm from 18 years old to 21 years old.

“Our gun safety laws are pretty effective,” Lamont said during a recent press conference. “But we are here today because we’ve got to continue to modernize what we’re trying to do because a lot of gun peddlers out there are trying to sell these things and trying to work around our system every day.”

Currently, one must be 21 years old to purchase a handgun in Connecticut. However, 18-year-olds can purchase other types of guns.
