Connecticut’s Minimum Wage To Hit $12 An Hour On September 1

August 31, 2020

On Tuesday, September 1, the minimum wage in Connecticut will rise.

The state’s minimum wage is scheduled to increase from $11 an hour to $12 an hour. As a result, minimum wage employees working 40 hours a week will receive a $40 pay increase each week.

However, some businesses will raise prices, cut hours, and lay off employees to combat the change, as the Hartford Courant points out. One restaurant plans to increase the price of its hamburgers by 50 cents as a result of the wage increase.

Last year, the state approved legislation that would gradually life the state’s minimum wage from $10.10 an hour to $15 an hour by June 1, 2023.

The minimum wage in Massachusetts is currently $12.75 an hour. It is scheduled to increase to $15 an hour in 2023.
