Conservative Massachusetts Democrat State Rep Filed Voter ID Bill

July 15, 2021

There is bipartisan support for voter ID in the State House.

While Massachusetts Republicans are working on getting a voter ID question on the November 2022 ballot, state Representative Colleen Garry (D-Dracut) filed legislation earlier this year (H.792) to require voters to present a photo ID to vote.

“I am afraid of fraud,” Garry told Politico. “I’ve always thought that we should ensure that the right people are voting.”

The left-leaning Politico then accused Garry of sounding like former President Donald Trump in its article. However, Garry reiterated the election integrity is not a partisan issue.

“We need to stop going partisan on every single issue and look at the facts,” Garry told Politico. “Someone can walk in and fake who they are and vote.”
