Ed Markey Doesn’t See Why People Can’t Just Buy Electric Cars

August 12, 2022

U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-Malden) has solved the high gas cost problem.

Or so he thinks . . .

Markey said at an event in Boston on Monday, August 8 that people should simply buy electric vehicles so they’re not paying $4 to $5 per gallon for gas.

“For me, this is an incredible moment,” Markey said, according to Fox Business. “We are going to ultimately say to the American people:  there’s no reason why you have to pay 4 or $5 a gallon for gasoline when you can have an all-electric vehicle that averages 75 cents for your payment for your all-electric vehicle to be able to move you anywhere you want in our state or in our country.”

The average new electric vehicle in the United States costs $66,000 while a new gas-powered car costs on average about $48,000.
