Ed Markey Endorses A Socialist

U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-Malden) endorsed a democratic socialist this week.

Markey endorsed current state representative Erika Uyterhoeven (D-Somerville) in her 27th Middlesex Democratic primary against Kathleen Hornby, a self-described progressive who doesn’t identify as a socialist.

“I am so honored to receive the endorsement of Senator @EdMarkey !” Uyterhoeven posted on X. “He is a progressive leader both in Massachusetts and at the national level on issues like climate change and Medicare for all. Thank you Senator Markey for all you do and for your support!”

The 27th Middlesex District includes: Ward 1 Precinct 4A, Ward 2 Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, Ward 3, Ward 4 Precinct 2A Ward 5, Ward 6 Precincts 1, 2, 3, and 4, of the city of Somerville.
