Elizabeth Warren Accuses Companies of Price Gouging
March 28, 2022
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Cambridge) says she doesn’t think inflation is the only reason why costs are going up.
Warren says that companies are using inflation as an excuse to raise their prices even higher.
“Everyone is talking about inflation & giant corporations have figured out that’s an opportunity to not only pass along their own costs, but also do some price gouging to pad their profits,” Warren tweeted over the weekend. “We must enforce our antitrust laws & promote competition so consumers don’t get ripped off.”
It’s not the first time Warren has made this kind of accusation against businesses; she blamed corporate greed for rising gas prices in November 2021.
