Elizabeth Warren, Ed Markey Want Bob Menendez To Resign From U.S Senate

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey) should resign, his two colleagues from Massachusetts say.

Both U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Cambridge) and U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-Malden) want their colleague to resign as he faces indictment on federal bribery charges.

“These are serious charges, and it’s time for Senator Menendez to step away from the Senate and concentrate on his legal defense,” Warren told CBS Boston 

Additionally, Markey posted to social media:  “The public’s trust has been broken. Senator Menendez should resign.”

If he chooses to run again, Menendez would be up for re-election in 2024.
