‘Enough Is Enough’ — Geoff Diehl Calls On Charlie Baker To Ignore Calls To Reinstate Mask Mandates

July 31, 2021

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put out guidelines this week recommending that people wear masks indoors in certain parts of the country with higher coronavirus test positivity rates.

It includes four Massachusetts counties:  Bristol, Suffolk, Barnstable, and Nantucket, as NBC reports.

As a result, Republican candidate for governor Geoff Diehl has called on the current governor, Charlie Baker, to resist calls to re-implement a mask mandate in Massachusetts.

Here is what Diehl said in a press release issued on Thursday morning, July 29:

The people of this state have followed the guidelines and a high percentage have received the Covid vaccination. The science shows children are at an extremely low risk for transmission of Covid. Children across the Commonwealth have been devastated emotionally, socially, and  educationally in the past 18 months due to the mandates placed on them. To force them back into masks will disrupt their much-needed return to normal living and educational practices.

Any further mandates will harm families and, at this point, we can’t afford that in this state. We will also put unnecessary impediments on small businesses which are only now getting back on their feet from the devastation of the last year.

The people of Massachusetts are smart and capable of making their own health decisions for themselves and for their families, including whether to get vaccinated or to voluntarily wear a mask. There is no need for government to keep interfering in our lives. Enough is enough.

New to NewBostonPost?  Conservative media is hard to find in Massachusetts.  But you’ve found it.  Now dip your toe in the water for two bucks — $2 for two months.  And join the real revolution.
