Falmouth Road Race Officials: Run Your Own Seven Miles

May 1, 2020

Organizers of the Falmouth Road Race are asking runners to run seven miles in their own neighborhood after registering so the money can be used to support Falmouth charities.

The famous seaside road race on Cape Cod isn’t happening this year because the Falmouth Board of Selectmen has cancelled all public events through August 31 because of the coronavirus emergency. It typically draws about 10,000 runners and about 100,000 people total.

The first 5,000 people who register are guaranteed a spot in the live version of the race scheduled for August 2021.

Organizers of Falmouth Road Race are planning to have a virtual event online on Sunday, August 15 — the day the race was scheduled to take place and the birthday of the race’s late founder, Tommy Leonard.
