Federal Government Wants Surveillance Towers In Vermont To Protect U.S.-Canadian Border

How do you secure the U.S.-Canadian border?

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has a plan to do so in Vermont and New York, as WCAX reported last week.

The idea? The feds ant to put surveillance towers in places like Highgate Center, Franklin, Richford, Derby Line, and North Troy in Vermont.

“The increasing frequency and nature of illegal cross-border activities, as well as the geographic area over which these activities occur, create a need for a technology-based surveillance capability that can effectively collect, process, and distribute information,” the Customs and Border Patrol said in a written statement assessing the idea last month, according to The Associated Press.
