Former Bernie Sanders Campaign Manager Predicts Biden Will Be Primaried

Jeff Weaver served as the campaign manager for U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) in both his 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns.

He thinks President Joe Biden won’t be the only Democrat to seek the party’s nomination in 2024.

Asked by Politico if Biden will face a primary challenger from his left in 2024, Weaver said:  “Will there be a progressive challenger? Yes.”

Weaver added that he’s not the person advocating for someone to primary Biden. However, he thinks a lack of accomplishments on policies supported by Democrats, including increased social spending, will lead to a challenger entering the race.

Biden, 79, has said that he plans to seek a second term.
