March 22, 2023

Four Deep Sports Talk named its annual basketball players and coaches of the year earlier this week.

The weekly radio show broadcast on WARA AM 1320 in Attleboro covers what the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association used to consider its south section. It is run by Brockton resident Dominic Damiano. This is the fourth year the show has given out these awards.

The show named Bridgewater-Raynham High School junior Natalia Hall-Rosa its girls’ basketball player of the year, Archbishop Williams senior Josh Campbell (of Plymouth, Massachusetts) its boys’ basketball player of the year, Foxborough head coach Lisa Downs its girls’ basketball coach of the year, and Carver head coach Mark Showan its boys’ basketball coach of the year.

Hall-Rosa averaged more than 20 points per game for Bridgewater-Raynham. Meanwhile, Campbell scored 34 points in the Division 3 state championship game Saturday, March 18; Archbishop Williams beat St. Mary’s of Lynn, 76-71.

Showan coached the Carver boys to a 13-8 finish; the team won the South Shore League Tobin Division title; it was Carver’s first league title since 2016. Downs coached the Foxborough girls to a Division 2 state championship; the team beat Dracut 73-53 in the title game Saturday, March 18.

The award ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Adria Restaurant and Banquet Facility in East Bridgewater.
