Gas In Massachusetts Now Cheaper Than National Average

March 5, 2024

Gas prices are up nationwide in the past week, but that’s not the case in Massachusetts.

The average gas price has remained steady in Massachusetts at $3.18 per gallon, according to AAA. That’s the same price it was last week.

However, the price in Massachusetts has gone up by three cents a gallon over the past month.

Even so, the average price for a gallon of regular gas nationwide is $3.35 per gallon. That figure has climbed by nine cents in the past week.

“Compared to last year, American drivers burned seven percent less gasoline last week, which is one factor keeping gas prices parked here in the Northeast for the time being,” said Mark Schieldrop, senior spokesman for AAA Northeast, in a press release from the organization. “Despite record oil production, higher oil prices could push prices up in the coming weeks if demand increases as we inch closer to the summer driving season.”
