Gas Tax Rising In Vermont On July 1

Gas may soon become more expensive in Vermont.

That’s because the state’s gas tax is set to increase on Friday, July 1.

The state’s fuel excise tax is set to increase by 4.36 cents per gallon, as The Newport Daily Express reports. Vermont currently has 32.14 cents’ worth of tax on each gallon of gas purchased in the state, according to the Federation of Tax Administrators.

As of Thursday, June 30, the average price for a gallon of gas in Vermont was $4.933; this was several cents more the national average for gas ($4.857), according to AAA. Meanwhile, the average price for a gallon of gas in Massachusetts was $4.900 per gallon.
