Gun Control A Campaign Priority For Newton Congressman Jake Auchincloss This Year

March 13, 2024

As U.S. Representative Jake Auchincloss (D-Newton) campaigns for himself and others in 2024, gun control will be a top priority, a political action committee said.

Auchincloss plans to tout many different gun control measures in hopes of helping the Democratic Party win the White House, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the U.S. Senate this November, according to the organization.

“Congressman Jake Auchincloss is a Marine combat veteran who knows weapons of war don’t belong on our streets or near our schools,” states a press release Tuesday, March 12 from Beyond Thoughts and Prayers, a pro-gun-control political action committee. “Gun violence is a policy choice that could be fixed by Congress. On Capitol Hill, Auchincloss is taking on the gun lobby and extremist Republicans to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. He’s also fighting for background checks for all gun purchases, red-flag laws, and safe-storage laws, because the carnage of gun violence isn’t just a statistic; it threatens our families.”

“Now, in addition to being a strong defender of the Biden Administration and helping to keep President Biden in the White House, Auchincloss is making gun safety the hallmark of his work this campaign cycle to help Democrats win back the House and protect and expand our majority in the Senate,” it added.
