Hartford Marathon To Feature Non-Binary Category

The Hartford Marathon is set to take place on Saturday, October 14 — and it will have three gender categories.

Not only will there be a men’s and women’s division, but people can also run in the nonbinary/genderqueer category. Additionally, people can select “prefer not to say” as their gender and participate in the marathon without competing in any specific division.

“HMF supports gender neutrality at events and respects participants’ right to decline assigning gender within the registration process. Participants may select the following Gender Options:  Male, Female, Nonbinary/Genderqueer, Prefer not to Say,” the Hartford Marathon Foundation’s web site says.

The Hartford Marathon does not offer a cash prize to the winner of the nonbinary division.
