Home Sales Plummet In Maine

Home sales are down in Maine as a result of the coronavirus emergency.

April saw a 15.4 percent decline in home sales compared to April 2019 in the state. It went down from 1,259 sales last year to 1,065 this year. It’s the biggest drop in home sales when comparing the same month in one year to the next since June 2011, according to the Portland Press-Herald.

The median home sales price is up during the emergency. The median price in April 2020 was $235,800. In April 2019, it was $210,000. 

In total, 14 of the 16 counties in the state saw an increase in home sale prices.
