ICE Apprehends Mexican Illegal Immigrant Wanted For Homicide In Connecticut
August 28, 2024
Federal immigration authorities have arrested a Mexican illegal immigrant who is wanted for aggravated homicide in his home country.
Officers from the Hartford office of Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston’s office arrested the 42-year-old illegal immigrant in Seymour, Connecticut, on August 20, authorities said.
“This Mexican noncitizen committed an aggravated murder in his native country, and then fled to Connecticut in an attempt to subvert justice,” said Todd Lyons, director of the Boston office, in a press release from U.S. Immigration and Enforcement. “He represented a significant threat to our residents that we cannot tolerate. We will not allow our New England communities to become safe havens for the world’s criminals.”
U.S. Border Patrol arrested the Mexican man on March 10, 2005, after he illegally entered the United States near Naco, Arizona. U.S. Border Patrol allowed him to return to Mexico voluntarily.
However, he has since entered the country illegally multiple times, according to the report. Mexican authorities issued an arrest warrant for him on February 13, 2024, on aggravated homicide charges.
The man remained in ICE custody as of earlier this week.
