Jamie Belsito Sworn In As The 130th Democratic State Rep In Massachusetts

December 9, 2021

The Fourth Essex District had a new state representative sworn in this week.

Jamie Belsito of Topsfield, who won a November 30 special election 55 percent to 45 percent over Rowley selectman Bob Snow, had her ceremony on Wednesday, December 8, according to the Salem News. With the win, Democrats have 130 of the 160 seats in the Massachusetts House of Representatives; there are just 29 Republicans out of the 160 state representatives.

The special election took place after former state representative Brad Hill (R-Ipswich) resigned to take a post on the state’s Gaming Commission.

Belsito is the founder and policy director of the Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance. She has been supportive of initiatives to combat postpartum depression over the past several years.
