Joe Biden Says He’s Not Bernie Sanders

January 20, 2022

President Joe Biden held a nearly two-hour-long press conference on Wednesday.

In it, he took a swipe at U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont).

Asked by a Fox News reporter why he is trying to move the country further to the left, Biden rejected the reporter’s premise.

“You guys have been trying to convince me that I am Bernie Sanders,” Biden told the press. “I’m not. I like him, but I’m not Bernie Sanders. I’m not a socialist. I’m a mainstream Democrat, and I have been.”

In 2020, Biden and Sanders were political opponents; they both sought the Democratic Party’s nomination for president.
