Labor Unions Reportedly Want Marty Walsh As Secretary of Labor

If certain labor unions get their way, then Marty Walsh might not run for re-election as mayor of Boston.

That’s not because they want to end his political career. Rather, they want him to be the U.S. Secretary of Labor for former vice president Joe Biden, if Biden is declared winner of the 2020 presidential election when the results are final.

The American Federation of Teachers and the president of the AFL-CIO Richard Trumka both reportedly support the idea, according to Boston.com.

Walsh will likely have competition. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, an independent who self-identifies as a democratic socialist, has said he would take the job as well.
