Maine Rated Safest State In The Country

The rankings are in, and Maine tops the list. According to a study conducted by WalletHub, Maine is the safest state in the United States.

Each of the New England states is in the top 10 in the rankings. Vermont came in second behind Maine. Then, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island round out the top 10; they were ranked seventh, eighth, ninth, and 10th respectively.

Maine also stood out on the list because it ranked first in terms of the fewest assaults per capita. New Mexico and Alaska were tied for the most in that category.

Criteria include car accidents, assaults, bullying incidents, occupational injuries, unemployment, climate disasters, and the presence of cops.
