Mainers 16 and Over Eligible For Coronavirus Vaccine Now

April 9, 2021

If you’re over the age of 16 in the state of Maine, you are eligible to receive coronavirus vaccines.

This policy change results in more than 470,000 new people being eligible for the vaccine.

The previous policy made the vaccine available to members of the general public if they were age 50 or over. However, frontline health care workers and teachers were also eligible for it regardless if age, as New England Cable News points out.

This policy differs from the one in another northern New England state, Vermont, where only non-white residents of the state who are over the age of 16 are eligible for the vaccine. For the white general public, it is available for people ages 40 and over, according to Healthy Vermont.
