Massachusetts Gas Prices Holding Steady

January 30, 2024

The average price for a gallon of gas in Massachusetts has not moved over the past week, according to AAA Northeast.

The price has held steady at $3.11 per gallon, which is 11 cents cheaper than it was one month ago and 32 cents cheaper than it was at this time last year.

Additionally, gas in Massachusetts is now one cent more expensive than the national average.

“We may not reach the $3.00 national average that many American drivers were hoping for,” said Mary Maguire, vice president of public and government affairs for AAA Northeast, in a press release from the organization. “If oil prices continue to see upward pressure, drivers could see pump prices increase steadily in the weeks ahead.”

The report cites low demand for gas amid the cold New England winter as part of the reason why gas prices in Massachusetts are around the national average.
