Massachusetts Native Gabby Thomas Wins Bronze In Olympic 200 Meters

A Massachusetts native took home an Olympic medal on Wednesday morning.

Gabby Thomas, who is from Florence, Massachusetts, took the bronze medal in the women’s 200 meter race in track. She finished in 21.87 seconds.

The winner of the race was Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica; she ran it in 21.53 seconds, according to the Olympics web site.

Florence is a village of the western Massachusetts city of Northampton.

Thomas, who is 24 years old, was a standout track runner at Williston Northampton School. She graduated from the school in 2015, according to its web site. She went on to attend Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The summer Olympics were pushed back from 2020 to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
