Massachusetts Republicans Amazed At Trump Shooting, Trump’s Reaction, and Outcome
July 15, 2024
Donald Trump’s campaign chairman in Massachusetts marveled at the former president’s performance after getting shot at and slightly wounded during a rally in western Pennsylvania on Saturday.
“What an amazing guy. He gets shot, he goes down, he comes back up, and he’s telling the Secret Service to pause because he wants people to know that we’re going to persevere,” said Thomas Hodgson, former sheriff of Bristol County and Trump campaign chairman in the state, according to the Worcester Telegram.
Kathy Lynch, a member of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee, noted that Trump has long been a target.
“Clearly, dark forces do not want Trump in office again and will do ANYTHING to stop him including killing him,” Lynch said in her email newsletter.
Massachusetts Republican Party leaders said they are “outraged, horrified, and deeply concerned.”
“For now, we emphasize that as Americans, we must not become so entrenched in division that we forget we are all brothers and sisters under the American flag. Whether Democrat or Republican, despite our differences, we all desire peace and prosperity for our nation. Political violence is intolerable, and we must unify as a nation to condemn this horrible incident,” the party said in a written statement, signed by party chairman Amy Carnevale, national committeeman Ron Kaufman, and national committeewoman Janet Fogarty.
