Massachusetts Residents Unhappy With The MBTA, Poll Shows
September 15, 2023
What do Bay Staters think of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority?
They don’t like it.
Many residents of Massachusetts think the MBTA offers a poor quality service and is unsafe, according to a MassInc poll released this week.
Polling 1,000 residents from the 175 municipalities served by the MBTA, MassInc found that 70 percent of MBTA users have had at least one instance where they felt unsafe using the T due to its infrastructure conditions.
Additionally, majorites rated the MBTA’s bus (51 percent) and subway/trolley (62 percent) as either fair or poor — far greater than those who rated them excellent or good; 35 percent rated the bus service excellent or good, while 28 percent felt the same way about subway/trolley services.
Unreliable MBTA services have long been considered a problem in the Bay State.
