Massachusetts To Have $15 Minimum Wage Starting Next Month

December 8, 2022

The new minimum wage in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will soon be $15 an hour.

The minimum wage is set to increase at the start of the new year.

As of January 1, 2023, the minimum wage in Massachusetts is scheduled to increase from $14.25 an hour to $15 an hour.

Governor Charlie Baker signed the minimum wage increase and paid family leave into law back in 2018 as part of the so-called Grand Bargain. In exchange, Baker got a permanent sales tax holiday weekend in August.

The federal minimum wage, however, will remain unchanged. It has been at $7.25 an hour since 2009, but the federal level does not apply in Massachusetts.
