MassGOP Rips Charlie Baker Over Vaccine Lottery

June 17, 2021

Is a coronavirus vaccine lottery a good idea?

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker thinks so, but his party disagrees.

Baker announced on Twitter on Wednesday morning that starting on July 1, the state will have a vaccine lottery for fully vaccinated residents. It gives those who are vaccinated the chance to receive one of five $1 million prizes. The point of it is to encourage people to get vaccinated.

The Massachusetts Republican Party, however, doesn’t think it’s the best use of money.

The party took a screenshot of Baker’s tweet and expressed its disagreement with the decision in a Facebook post.

“Is this the best use of $5 million dollars … what about the small businesses that were destroyed, what about the increase in opioid use, what about those living on the streets, what about the families of Veterans lost at the Holyoke Soldiers Home, what about the families of those lost at state regulated nursing homes?,” the MassGOP wrote.

New to NewBostonPost?  Conservative media is hard to find in Massachusetts.  But you’ve found it.  Now dip your toe in the water for two bucks — $2 for two months.  And join the real revolution.
