MassGOP Voices Support For Israel Amid Iranian Attacks

April 17, 2024

After Iran launched over 300 drones and missiles toward Israel last weekend, the Massachusetts Republican Party has been standing with Israel.

“Israel has consistently expressed their desire for peace. Hamas holds the key to ending the loss of thousands of lives by releasing the Israeli hostages, yet they persist in refusal, only seeking one outcome:  the destruction of Israel,” Massachusetts Republican Party chairman Amy Carnevale said in a press release. “Therefore, Israel retains the unequivocal right to take all necessary measures to bring their people safely back to their families. Now that Iran has escalated this war, it is more important than ever that leaders across the Commonwealth and the nation unite to unequivocally stand in solidarity with Israel, which is confronting an existential threat.”

Israeli officials told CBS News the missiles were nearly all intercepted before they hit the country.

Iran’s attack came in response to Israel’s bombing of an Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria on April 1. The attack killed several members of Iran’s military.

Iran has been a strong supporter of Hamas, the organization that rules the Gaza Strip. Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, leading to the current war between Israel and Hamas.
