Maura Healey, Michelle Wu Attending Vatican Climate Summit This Week

May 13, 2024

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu plan to speak at a climate change conference in Vatican City this week.

The two left-of-center lawmakers are scheduled to speak at the summit called “From Climate Crisis to Climate Resilience.” Pope Francis is expected to preside over this summit.

“As the climate crisis takes on growing urgency across the globe, communities must come together to take collective action for a safer, brighter future,” Wu said in a press release from her office. “Boston is proof of what’s possible for cities tackling the climate crisis while creating green jobs and healthier communities. I’m honored to represent Boston at this important convening led by Pope Francis, and look forward to shining a spotlight on our community’s work and also bringing home solutions from innovative cities around the world.”

The conference is set to take place from Wednesday, May 15 to Friday, May 17.
