Maura Healey To Release Proposed Fiscal Year 2024 Budget This Week

Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey will release her proposed fiscal year 2024 budget this week.

Healey plans to file her budget on Wednesday, March 1, according to WBUR.

The Massachusetts House and Senate will then spend the next few months etching out a budget; fiscal year 2024 begins on July 1, 2023. 

While it remains to be seen what kind of programs end up in the budget proposal, Healey has promised that it will include funding for a program she calls Massreconnect. It would offer free community college for those ages 25 and up who do not have a degree.

The current fiscal year 2023 budget in Massachusetts calls for spending $52.7 billion; the fiscal year 2024 budget will likely increase spending.
