Memorial Day Weekend Traffic Jams Nonexistent on Cape Cod

May 24, 2020

A one-mile backup at the Sagamore Bridge on the Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend in 2019 was nothing unusual for the traditional opening of the busy summer season on Cape Cod.

But 2020?  No traffic delays at all, reports The Cape Cod Times.

The year of coronavirus is just beginning to be felt on the tourism-dependent Cape, where motels and hotels aren’t allowed to have guests.

The Baker administration says they may be allowed to re-open as soon as Monday, June 8, though it’s unclear what the restrictions will be — and what the demand will be.
