Mike Pence Campaigns In Central Maine

October 19, 2020

Vice President Mike Pence went to northern New England on Monday to campaign.

Pence went up to Dysart’s Service Center in Hermon, Maine. It’s part of Penobscot County near Bangor, according to WABI-TV.

That’s in Maine’s Second Congressional District covering central and northern Maine, where President Donald Trump won a single electoral vote in 2016. (Maine awards two of its four electoral votes to the candidate who wins statewide, and one to the winner of each of its two congressional districts. Hillary Clinton won statewide in 2016 and also won the state’s First Congressional District, which includes southern Maine.)

In 2016, the Trump-Pence ticket became the first Republican tandem to receive an electoral vote from a New England state since 2000.

This year the district is in play for both the Trump campaign and former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign, according to WABI-TV.
