Mosquito In Boston Tests Positive For West Nile Virus

West Nile Virus is in the city of Boston this year.

The virus, carried by mosquitos, was found in a mosquito sample from Jamaica Plain collected on July 14, according to the Boston Public Health Commission. The Massachusetts State Public Health Laboratory that conducted the test, as WHDH reports.

Thus far, there have been no confirmed cases of the virus in humans or animals in the Commonwealth. The same is true of Eastern Equine Encephalitis, also known as EEE.

This wasn’t the first confirmed mosquito in the state to be carrying West Nile Virus this year. There was one in Medford in June.
