New Hampshire Bans Male Transgender Athletes From Girls’ Sports
July 22, 2024
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has signed a bill into law that bans males, including those who identify as transgender, from competing in girls’ interscholastic sports in Grades 5 through 12.
Sununu, a Republican, signed New Hampshire House Bill 1205 on Friday, July 18.
“HB 1205 ensures fairness and safety in women’s sports by maintaining integrity and competitive balance in athletic competitions,” Sununu said in a press release from his office. “With this widely supported step, New Hampshire joins nearly half of all U.S. States in taking this measure.”
The move comes after Maelle Jacques, a male who identifies as transgender, won two girls’ track and field state championships in the high jump this past school year, as NewBostonPost previously reported. NewBostonPost was the first outlet to inform the public that Jacques was likely to win a state title this past winter — and the first to report on the athlete’s second state title this past spring.
New to NewBostonPost? Conservative media is hard to find in Massachusetts. But you’ve found it. Now dip your toe in the water for two bucks — $2 for two months. And join the real revolution.
