New Hampshire Legislature Session Scheduled To Take Place At Hockey Rink

The New Hampshire House of Representatives has 400 members, so legislators need a large venue to do their work amid the coronavirus emergency social distancing.

As The Associated Press reports, they found one. The New Hampshire House plans to use Whittemore Center Arena in Durham to meet on Thursday, June 11. It is the home of the University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team.

The plan is that they will use the arena floor for seating — which does not have ice on it outside of hockey season.

New Hampshire has a part-time legislature, so this is the first time state representatives will be meeting since the pandemic shut down state economies back in March.
