New Hampshire Presidential Primary Date Set

November 16, 2023

We now know when the 2024 New Hampshire presidential primary will take place.

New Hampshire Secretary of State Dave Scanlan made the announcement on Wednesday. The primary is set for Tuesday, January 23, 2024, according to NBC News.

New Hampshire’s first primary in the country is scheduled to take place eight days after the Republican caucuses in Iowa, which are scheduled for Monday, January 15, 2024. The Democrats also plan on holding caucuses in Iowa on the same day, but will not release the results of mail-in balloting until early March 2024.

Former President Donald Trump will be on the ballot on the Republican side, but the same is not true of current President Joe Biden on the Democratic side.

Biden wants South Carolina to be the Democratic Party’s first primary; the Democratic electorate in that state is majority black. The Democratic primary in South Carolina is scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Although Biden will not be on the ballot in New Hampshire, there will be a write-in campaign for him there.
