Next Ed Markey-Joe Kennedy III Debate Scheduled

May 14, 2020

Another debate between the two Massachusetts Democratic U.S. Senate candidates is scheduled to take place in about two and a half weeks.

U.S. Senator Ed Markey and U.S. Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III are expected to participate in a televised debate at 7 p.m. Monday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m., as MassLive.com reports.

Initially, the debate in question was supposed to take place in mid-March in Springfield, but did not because of the coronavirus emergency. It will be hosted by MassLive, Western Mass News, The Boston Globe, WBUR, WCVB, and the UMass Boston John. W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies.

This will be the second Markey-Kennedy debate; one already took place in February.

Overall, it’s the third debate of the 2020 Massachusetts U.S. Senate race. Back in November, Markey debated Shannon Liss-Riordan, a labor attorney who has since dropped out, on climate change matters at Stonehill College in Easton. Kennedy did not participate in the event.
