Quincy City Council President To Run For U.S. Senate As A Republican

April 2, 2024

Quincy City Council president Ian Cain, 41, plans to announce a bid for U.S. Senate against U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Cambridge) later this month, according to The Quincy Sun.

Cain, a Republican, has served on the Quincy City Council since 2016.

He is one of several Republicans who has either filed paperwork or announced a U.S. Senate bid on the GOP side. Those people include: U.S. Army veteran Aaron Packard, software company owner Robert Antonellis, attorney John Deaton, perennial candidate Shiva Ayyadurai, engineer John Berman, and paralegal Rebekah Etique, according to The Quincy Sun.

Warren is expected to cruise to re-election victory in November 2024 in Massachusetts, one of the most Democratic-leaning states in the union.
