Red Sox Owners To Buy Pittsburgh Penguins In National Hockey League

November 30, 2021

Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle own the Pittsburgh Penguins, but not for much longer.

The team is set to be sold to Fenway Sports Group, pending approval from the National Hockey League’s Board of Governors. The board will likely approve of the deal before the end of the year, according to The Associated Press. The ownership group will reportedly pay $900 million for the team.

If the name sounds familiar, that’s because Fenway Sports Group owns the Boston Red Sox. It also owns and Liverpool F.C. of the Premier League (the top professional soccer league in the United Kingdom).

John Henry and Tom Werner are the founders of the organization; Henry also owns The Boston Globe, a left-leaning daily newspaper in Massachusetts.

New to NewBostonPost?  Conservative media is hard to find in Massachusetts.  But you’ve found it.  Now dip your toe in the water for two bucks — $2 for two months.  And join the real revolution.
