Red Sox Release Jackie Bradley Jr.

August 5, 2022

The Boston Red Sox released Jackie Bradley Jr. on Thursday.

The team designated him for assignment in the morning of Thursday, August 4 then released him in the early afternoon, according to ESPN.

The defensive-minded outfielder played for the team from 2013 to 2020 and again this season. He was a member of the 2018 World Series championship team; there, he was a part of an outfield that included Mookie Betts and Andrew Benintendi. None of those players are on the Red Sox anymore.

Bradley hit .210 with three home runs and a .578 OPS in 91 games for the Red Sox this season.

He was an All-Star in 2016 and won a Gold Glove award in 2018.
