Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Compares Himself To Charlie Baker

May 27, 2024

Massachusetts Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Deaton compared himself to former Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker in an interview with WCVB this past weekend.

“There is no candidate that you can compare me to, with my life experience. If you forced me to pick a Republican, it would be Republican like Charlie Baker,”  the attorney who lives in Swansea told WCVB. “A centrist, common sense Republican — fiscally conservative, socially moderate. But I’m my own person and I think I bring a lot of uniqueness to this race.”

Deaton is one of three GOP U.S. Senate candidates running this year, along with Quincy city council president Ian Cain and Wareham activist Robert Antonellis.

Incumbent U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Cambridge) is expected to cruise to re-election victory this November.
