Rhode Island Drops Outdoor Mask Mandate For Unvaccinated Ocean Staters

June 3, 2021

Wearing masks outdoors is a thing of the past in Rhode Island.

Unvaccinated Ocean Staters no longer have to wear a mask outdoors in Rhode Island, although the state has made no changes to its indoor mask policy, as What’s Up Newp reports.

The state’s indoor mask policy says that, generally, people who are fully vaccinated can choose not to wear masks indoors. It tells people who are not fully vaccinated to continue wearing masks indoors.

The new rules on outdoor masking affects activities such as youth sports, summer camps, and outdoor live performances — including concerts and sporting events. However, private businesses can still dictate if people have to wear masks at their establishments.
