Sandwich High Graduate Named Mike Pence’s Press Secretary

June 2, 2020

Vice President Mike Pence shook up his staff last week, and the moves included making one Sandwich High graduate his press secretary.

As The Cape Cod Times reports, Devin O’Malley, who graduated from Sandwich High School in 2004, is Pence’s new press secretary.

Previously, he worked in public affairs at the U.S. Treasury Department and the U.S. Justice Department. O’Malley also worked with the White House Coronavirus Task Force, which is where he caught Pence’s attention.

At Sandwich High, O’Malley played lacrosse and participated in student government.

“I’m ecstatic, it’s still hard to believe,” his father, Michael O’Malley, told The Cape Cod Times. “He started attending rallies with me when he was a boy and he got excited about it.”

Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod, incorporated in 1639. It has about 20,000 people.
