Shiva Ayyadurai Running For U.S. Senate In Massachusetts Yet Again

December 7, 2022

Maybe the third time will be the charm for Shiva Ayyadurai.

The 59-year-old Cambridge resident announced via social media last weekend that he plans to run for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts yet again in 2024. It would be his third consecutive run for U.S. Senate.

Ayyadurai made the announcement in a Facebook post. He wrote:  “Beyond Left & Right. Be the light!” He included a photo that says:  “U.S. Senate 2024 Dr. Shiva Independent.”

If U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Cambridge) runs again, she will be up for re-election.

Ayyadurai ran for U.S. Senate as an unenrolled candidate in 2018. He got 3.4 percent of the vote as Warren got 60.3 percent and former state representative Geoff Diehl (R-Whitman) got 36.2 percent, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s office.

Ayyadurai also unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2020, losing 59.7 percent to 39.4 percent to Dover attorney Kevin O’Connor; U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-Malden) beat O’Connor 66.2 percent to 33 percent in the general election.
