Socialist Announces Bid For Massachusetts Auditor

April 5, 2022

Another candidate has jumped into the race to be the next State Auditor of Massachusetts.

Weymouth resident Nick Giannone, 46, announced his run on social media last week. He is the founder of the Workers Party of Massachusetts, a socialist party that is an official political designation in the Commonwealth.

Giannone explained why he’s running for the post in a statement he posted on Facebook:

The overall goal of the Workers Party of Massachusetts is to build a statewide working class political organization based on revolutionary socialist principles and connected to mass movements in the streets. The Workers Party believes that the most direct route to achieving this goal is to utilize elections to run working class candidates on a shared socialist program. The experience of the Workers Party since our formation in 2020 has shown that campaigns for the State Legislature can help to establish local party organizations in working class communities and our plans for 2022 are to expand on this experience by campaigning for statewide office in Massachusetts.

In order to make the most out of the 2022 election and work towards the goal outlined above I would like to announce that I will be the Workers Party of Massachusetts candidate for State Auditor and will no longer be seeking the office of State Representative in the 4th Norfolk District. I would like to thank everyone who has supported this campaign so far and I look forward to your continued involvement as we take this effort statewide.

Running a campaign for State Auditor comes with a lot of challenges but there are also tremendous opportunities to grow the Workers Party across Massachusetts. A statewide campaign provides us with a platform to promote the Workers Party and our program in every part of the state. This can serve as a unifying activity for Workers Party members and supporters scattered across Massachusetts who don’t yet have a local organization to plug into. The Workers Party also aims to use the State Auditor campaign to achieve 3% of the vote in November which will allow us to become an official political party instead of our current status as a political designation.

The Nick Giannone for State Auditor campaign joins with Laura Saylor for State Senate — Bristol and Norfolk and Brandon J. Griffin for State Representative — 7th Plymouth campaigns to ask for your support in building a revolutionary socialist political organization that fights for working class political power. Volunteers are needed to help gather signatures and financial support is necessary to fund our campaigns. Giannone ran for state representative in the Fourth Norfolk District in 2020 and got 5 percent of the vote.

New to NewBostonPost?  Conservative media is hard to find in Massachusetts.  But you’ve found it.  Now dip your toe in the water for two bucks — $2 for two months.  And join the real revolution.
